As the 2nd Asia Battery Materials Cooperation Forum, this event will be hosted in Seoul, the core hub of new energy industries in Asia. It will host high-level dialogues covering four major themes: material technology, market trends, supply chain security and cross-border collaboration. Over 300 core decision-makers across the entire industrial chain will gather for in-depth exchanges to jointly build a coordinated industrial ecosystem.
Event Background
The global battery industrial chain is now at a critical stage featuring supply chain restructuring, rising trade barriers and increasingly stringent low-carbon compliance requirements. South Korea stands as a key global manufacturer of power batteries, with leading enterprises including LG Energy Solution, SK On and Samsung SDI granting it competitive edges in high-end manufacturing and global market channels. China boasts a complete industrial chain as well as cost and technical advantages in cathode materials, anode materials, electrolytes, separators, core mineral smelting and battery recycling. The industrial sectors of China and South Korea are highly complementary with strong demand for bilateral cooperation.
To advance stable collaboration on core mineral resources and battery supply chains between the two countries, and to align with South Korea’s policy frameworks including the Special Act on Stabilization of Core Mineral Supply Chains, the K-Battery Global Leadership Strategy 2030 and the Battery Resource Circulation Act, SMM will hold the Asia Battery Materials Cooperation Forum in Seoul, South Korea on September 3–4, 2026.
Centering on policy interpretation, supply-demand matching, technological innovation and compliance-based cooperation, this forum serves as an efficient communication platform linking government authorities, enterprises, universities and research institutions from China and South Korea. It facilitates practical cooperation covering mineral resources, battery materials, recycling, automotive applications and energy storage supporting sectors. The forum helps enterprises from both countries mitigate supply chain risks, tackle international trade barriers and build a stable, efficient Asian battery industrial ecosystem. It brings together leading experts from Asia’s lithium battery, material, policy, academic and research communities to discuss coordinated collaboration amid the new phase of global industrial development.
